Do you seek more ease in everyday life? Do you crave community that is kind & belonging, with healthy boundaries? Are you curious, or regrouping, about mind-body practices to support your core values?

If you answer yes, then you may wish to check this out.  Let the yoga and being in community work for you.

This is for any person who can sit in a chair and breathe.  No prior yoga or meditation practice is needed.  Experienced yogis and meditators will find the depth of the experience meaningful.

Embodied: When you tune in with the light that is you, it’s easier to live up to your core values.  Why? Because your starting point is exactly here and now. Many traditions invite us to see the sacred in the ordinary – everyday life as a human being is glorious.  When you move from the distractions of your mind: checked out, rumination, scrolling, memories, fears.. fill in the blank.. to right here: wow, yes, it’s amazing to be breathing in this miraculous body which can heal, learn, move and love.

Awareness: Mindfulness asks us to be present with sensations occurring within us and around us… without judgement.  That’s the tricky part.  We pan out to include awareness not only of sensations, but personal patterns, foibles, strengths...and gifts.  With Svadhyada -the yogic concept of self-study, we can better see, feel and embody the unique perspective and gifts we have to share in the world.   With awareness of current conditions, we can constrict less, and blossom more.

Self-Regulation: The capacity to reframe and adjust your own emotional responses and impulses, to modulate your behavior to align with your values and goals.  If you’re kept busy all day getting emotional about stuff outside of your control, if you crave other people making you all better… or if you knock yourself out to take care of every living thing you meet ..you’re probably exhausted.   Here we incubate embodied awareness into your own inner hero who knows how to call the game of everyday life and create less regrets.  Yogic breathing techniques, meditations and movement sum up over time.  This is like money in the bank to retrain your brain to act more consciously, with less reactivity.

Equanimity:  Defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “evenness of mind especially under stress; keeping a cool head under any sort of pressure, not merely when presented with a problem..general balance and harmony.”  Recovery groups use the word “serenity” for this. You build your capacity to stay in the light of who you are, living your values, when you spend time with embodied awareness and self-regulation.  It’s not that you don’t get furious at injustice or mad/sad when people betray or disappoint.   It’s just that you’ve found a way not to marinate in those emotions.  You feel them, sort them and talk about them in safe settings.  You can look at the issue from several angles, including compassion for your foibles in this, and find a compassionate way through for all involved, including yourself.  Your self-regulation keeps you from striking out in reactivity.  You take the problem, sleep on it, meditate on it, and move forward with conscious action.
