We are invited into a heart-centered pause.
As we embrace this equinox season, it's a great time to have balance. One example is the balance of compassion AND healthy boundaries. Compassion for self demands it.
A gardener does not plant her tomatoes on the sidewalk.
She may have to put up a fence against the woodchuck.
She identifies and cultivates the conditions for sharing her gifts, and chooses wisely.
Growth cannot not happen if we are constantly picking up the pieces from what others have destroyed.
People pleasing is an engrained habit. It’s praised by others. It’s hard to shift.
Self-compassion enables knowing when to help, and when to walk away from a toxic situation.
Walking away does not negate caring for the other person. It draws a wider circle to include self-understanding. This places yourself where you know you can thrive and share your gifts effectively, to keep your yesses and no's clear. But where do you source this clarity?
The soul knows. The body’s intelligence knows. Perhaps you’ve groaned when enjoying a movie or book, and your favorite character makes a big mistake? Don’t you notice that same Uggghhh! when you take steps away from your own truth? You feel it in your body. Your inner wisdom is watching and communicating on a gut level. It’s shimmering, ever-present, and ready to support choices that bring joyful alignment with your innate wisdom. You were born with this nature. You can cultivate it as a gardener.
As human beings, we make mistakes all the time. We’re human! A big part of self-compassion is self-forgiveness. When you relate to soul-power, you have a long view on making mistakes. You can notice the lesson, make amends, surrender, and keep weeding.
Changing patterns requires rest, pause, balance.... It requires attention to your basic needs for time in nature, healthy homemade food, and sleep. Caring for yourself is a radical act that ripples and heals others too. Biologically, inflammation is quelled, neurotransmitters are calmed.
Moods are contagious. Self-compassion becomes simply universal compassion. It’s not nothing. It opens a relaxed space for buddha-nature to have a clear voice.
May we all take a heart centered pause, heal, cultivate, and be the light that we are.
