What Will We Do?

Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice often described as a moving meditation.  It cultivates and regulates the flow of Qi (vital energy) within the body.  This aims to balance mind/body/spirit and improve overall health.  Practice combines breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation.

Fall is the season of transformation.  Nature is moving from the most Yang period of Summer and preparing to enter into the most Yin period of Winter. The weather is turning cooler. The Sun comes up later in the morning and sets earlier in the evening. Trees and plants are naturally dropping their leaves.  Animals are building their shelters and storing their food in preparation for the challenges of the cold Winter months.

In Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fall is associated with the Metal element, the lungs, large intestine, skin, the respiratory system and the immune system.

In our workshop, we will do some “energetic Fall cleaning” as we practice exercises to purge old energy that no longer serves.  We will explore acupressure points to release stagnanation. Then we will relax into flowing movements to cultivate the positive energies of the Metal Element as we align our internal energy with the external energy of nature. Together, these practices help to strengthen our Respiratory and Immune Systems as we navigate the seasonal changes.  We will finish with a guided relaxation/ meditation, and emerge feeling tuned up and ready!
